The Proper Role of the Westminster Standards
The Westminster Standards are integral to the PCA, says Kevin DeYoung, senior pastor of Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, North Carolina. There are several reasons we take these documents seriously, he continues, including the fact that they provide us with unity and clarity, and provide us with good reason — as individuals and a denomination — to stay humble. On occasion, the Standards also stir controversy. Which raises the question: How do we know when the Standards are serving their proper role? Perhaps it’s by looking at how we might misuse them.
