Edward IV: The King Defeated By Wine
THIS IS HISTORY — A DYNASTY TO DIE FOR Season 10, Episode 7: The Tribute Act In 1475, nobody wants a Henry V impersonator, but Edward IV goes ahead and does his best impression anyway. Edward, buoyant from vanquishing his enemies at home, now wants to re-unite the kingdom against its longtime enemy: France. He wants the family heirlooms back: Normandy and Gascony. So he assembles the biggest army in living memory — about 13,000 strong — and launches an assault on Paris, via Calais and Agincourt. Another Duke of Burgundy allies with England, too. But Edward IV is no Henry V. Edward’s first allegiance is to pleasure, and it’s a fact the French King, Louis XI, ruthlessly exploits. – 00:00 War Fever at Knowsley 01:37 Margaret Beaufort’s Remarriage 02:42 Henry Tudor in Exile 04:29 All About Fat Elvis 06:14 Hundred Years War Nostalgia 06:46 Burgundy Alliance Plan 07:09 Parliament Sells War 08:20 Edward’s Mega Army 09:36 The Treaty of London 10:05 The French Read on Edward 11:41 Meeting At Picquigny Bridge 11:50 Edward’s Gold Pension 13:49 Margaret’s Premonition 14:19 Henry Imprisoned in Brittany 19:20 Extradition Crisis at Saint Malo 22:42 Margaret Cosplays Yorkist Loyalist 25:16 Yorkist Heirs Everywhere 27:09 Margaret’s New Plan 28:35 The Problem With Clarence 29:07 This Week’s Discussion Post – As always, Dan’s royal favourites can chime in anytime on the royal court on Patreon at patreon.com/thisishistory.
