Complications of endotracheal intubation: the INTUBE study

Sheila Myatra from Mumbai, India, and Vicenzo Russotto from Monza, Italy, discuss the interesting results of the recent INTUBE study. In this international, multicenter, observational study of almost 3000 critically ill patients who underwent intubation, 43% developed cardiovascular instability. Profs Myatra and Russotto discuss the implications of these results and the need to investigate further how best to mitigate the risk of complications after endotracheal intubation.
