Hermano de alcalde asesinado contradice a Salomón Jara: “Sí pidió protección”

Saúl Bravo, brother of the mayor of San Miguel Amatitlán, Joel Ángel Bravo Martínez, confirmed that the mayor did request protection from the Oaxaca state government weeks before his murder. According to Saúl, the mayor was kidnapped on May 6th and later released under threats, a situation that led him to request support during a security meeting. The relative stated that, after the kidnapping, Joel Ángel Bravo continued to receive pressure and that there were commitments from the authorities to provide security. These statements contradict those previously made by Governor Salomón Jara, who had asserted that no formal request for protection had been made. Saúl Bravo called for a thorough investigation and greater attention to security in the Mixteca region, considering that the violence has generated fear among the population.
