Mudda Aapka: India’s Afghan Outreach | 03 June, 2022

Today we will discuss India-Afghanistan relations. A delegation from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs is visiting Afghanistan. Led by Joint Secretary JP Singh, the delegation met with Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and discussed diplomatic relations, trade, and humanitarian assistance. Muttaqi described the Indian delegation's visit as a positive start and said that India should resume its diplomatic presence and consular services in Afghanistan. This is the first visit by an Indian government delegation to Kabul since the Taliban government came to power in Afghanistan last year. The Indian delegation is overseeing humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan. This development comes at a time when there are many questions about recognizing the Taliban regime, yet India continues to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. India has already sent 20,000 metric tons of wheat, 13 tons of medicines, COVID vaccine doses, and winter clothing. Nearly 60 million doses of polio vaccine and two tons of essential medicines have been supplied by UNICEF. The Indian delegation will meet with representatives of international organizations engaged in distributing humanitarian aid.
