👉 During the intense storm that hit Mar del Plata, an 84-year-old taxi driver was trapped inside his vehicle, which quickly flooded at the corner of Posadas and Azopardo streets in the Termas Huinco neighborhood. Two young neighbors, Lautaro and Daniel, acted quickly and bravely to rescue him. According to Héctor García, the driver, "Where I was, it was like a lake. I could have drowned." The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. when the taxi stopped after falling into a pothole and began to float due to the sudden accumulation of water. The rescuers managed to open the door despite the water pressure and pulled the driver out. He was unresponsive for a few seconds due to his nervousness and the imminent danger. Lautaro explained, "We got out, went down into the water, tried to open the door as best we could... he kept saying he couldn't get out." Residents reported that these types of situations have been recurring every time it rains heavily for over 30 years, without any definitive solutions from the municipality. The rescue video brought the problem to light: "If it weren't for the person who shared it, this would happen every time it rains," the rescuers stated.
