In the late 2000's, there was literally nobody bigger than Lil' Wayne. Out of the slew of high profile rap stars of the decade, including Eminem, Jay-Z and 50 Cent, Weezy F. Baby helped introduce a new wave of upcoming artists who would dominate the next era. In December 2009, We Are Young Money dropped, an album comprised of rappers such as Tyga, Nicki Minaj and Drizzy Drake. While the album saw luke-warm critical reception and only sold half-a-million copies, the masses got a taste of the artists that would soon be taking over their radios and possible their local supply of sizzurp. With his 2010 effort Rebirth being a critical and financial flop, it seemed like the victory of Dwayne Michael Carter was unravelling. Only a month after the album's release, the New Orleans rapper was sentenced to a year in the Home of New York's Boldest... Riker's Island Prison. Incarcerated on charges of marijuana possession as well as possession of an unregistered firearm. Serving 242 days, he was released on good behaviour.
