Los Secretos Escondidos de Tepeji del Río que NADIE te Contó!
Tepeji del Río was a strategic point on the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, a key route of the Viceroyalty of New Spain that connected Mexico City with the north of the country. Thanks to its location, Tepeji became an important transit center for the trade and transportation of precious metals. In the 19th century, during the industrial boom, the La Josefina Textile Factory was founded, one of the first in the region. This factory marked the beginning of industrialization in Tepeji, attracting workers, boosting the local economy, and leaving an architectural and historical legacy that still endures. The Tepeji del Río Industrial Textile Museum, inaugurated on August 26, 2022, is located in the historic La Josefina Factory, one of the oldest in Mexico. This museum offers a unique experience by displaying original textile machinery from the 19th and 20th centuries, some dating between 1865 and 1870, from countries such as England, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. It also presents a replica of the towel-making process, from the arrival of the cotton to the final product, highlighting the technological evolution and the economic and social impact of the factory on the region. The Former Convent of San Francisco de Asís in Tepeji del Río is a 16th-century building founded by Franciscan friars as part of the evangelization of New Spain. This convent stands out for its colonial architecture, with stone walls, a sober cloister, and a church with Baroque elements. It was an important religious and cultural center during the Viceroyalty and still preserves part of its original structure, including murals and ancient architectural details. Today, it is a historical symbol of Tepeji and is part of the cultural heritage of the state of Hidalgo. Discover the Hidden Secrets of Tepeji del Río - in Hidalgo - that NO ONE Told You!
