1993 Acropolis Rally

(in Finnish) Although 1993 Acropolis was Ari Vatanen's first rally after the '93 Dakar Rally in January, where he broke his back again, Ari's speed showed no sign of the competition break. This year's rally gathered the full line up from the teams: Toyota Celicas were driven by #1 Didier Auriol and #6 Juha Kankkunen; Ford Escorts by: #2 Francois Delecour and #7 Miki Biasion; Subaru Legacys by #5 Colin McRae and #10 Ari Vatanen; Mitsubishi Lancers: #4 Kenneth Eriksson and #9 Armin Schwarz; Lancias (Repsol): #3 Carlos Sainz, #11 Gustavo Trelles and (Jolly Club) #Andrea Aghini. And private Astra Team Lancias by: #12 Alex Fiorio and #18 Tommi Mäkinen. This event marked co-driver Juha Piironen's last competitional rally. He suffered a serious illness during the recce of Rally Argentina.
