This trek took place in November-December 2024, a perfect time for clear skies and fewer crowds. We trekked independently, without a guide or porter. Day 5: Pangboche to Dingboche ⢠Starting Point: View Point Lodge, Pangboche (Elevation: ~3,985 m / 13,074 ft) ⢠Ending Point: Bright Star Hotel, Dingboche (Elevation: ~4,410 m / 14,468 ft) ⢠Distance: ~6 km (3.7 miles) ⢠Elevation Gain: ~425 m (1,394 ft) We began Day 5 with a hearty breakfast at View Point Lodge in Pangboche, surrounded by the towering peaks of the Himalayas. The sun was shining brightly, promising perfect trekking weather. Around 10 AM, we set off towards Dingboche, encountering numerous yak herds carrying supplies along the trailāa testament to the regionās remote lifestyle and the essential role yaks play here. Our lunch stop was in Shomare Village, where we enjoyed a delicious serving of Dal Bhat. Here, we witnessed the incredible strength of local porters, effortlessly carrying heavy loads up the steep paths. Continuing our trek, we crossed a picturesque bridge just before reaching Dingboche. By 2 PM, we arrived in Dingboche, a charming village known for its stunning views of Ama Dablam and its role as a key acclimatization stop on the Everest Base Camp trek. With two recommendations in hand, we chose to stay at Bright Star Hotel. The accommodation exceeded our expectations: a clean room with a breathtaking view of Ama Dablam. After settling in, we ventured out for an acclimatization hike up the hill behind the town. Dinner at Bright Star was well-deserved after the dayās trek. We savored Garlic Fried Rice and the ever-reliable Dal Bhat. Despite the room temperature hovering just above freezing, we slept soundly, grateful for our cozy shelter. Dingboche is a popular acclimatization village, offering trekkers a chance to adjust to higher altitudes before pushing further towards Everest Base Camp. The village is surrounded by majestic peaks and offers access to side treks like Chukhung and Nangkartshang Peak. Day 6: Dingboche to Chukhung ⢠Starting Point: Dingboche (Elevation: ~4,410 m / 14,468 ft) ⢠Ending Point: Chukhung (Elevation: ~4,730 m / 15,518 ft) ⢠Distance: ~5 km (3.1 miles) ⢠Elevation Gain: ~320 m (1,050 ft) Day 6 started with a hearty breakfast of omelet and traditional Tibetan bread, fueling us for the short but challenging trek ahead. Though the distance to Chukhung was relatively short, the altitude (above 4,400 meters) made every step feel more demanding. The trail meandered along the Imja Khola River, with yaks grazing peacefully nearby. The weather had shifted from the previous dayās sunshine to cloudy, foggy conditions, casting an ethereal atmosphere over the landscape. We arrived in Chukhung around 1 PM, earlier than expected. With no prior accommodation plans, we asked around and eventually found a warm welcome at Sunrise Eco Resort. At an elevation of 4,730 meters and with overcast skies, the cold was intense, and our room felt especially chilly. Determined to make the most of our time, we left our backpacks and set off for another acclimatization hike to an unnamed peak behind the village, climbing up to 4,870 meters (15,977 ft). From this vantage point, we enjoyed incredible views of Ama Dablam, though the cold and wind forced us to descend sooner than we would have liked. Back at Sunrise Eco Resort, we warmed up with dinner: Dal Bhat and Egg Fried Noodles. The cold was biting, but the hearty food and the sense of accomplishment from another successful day made it all worthwhile. Chukhung is a small settlement that serves as a base for climbers heading to Island Peak and trekkers exploring the Chukhung Valley. The village offers spectacular views of peaks like Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Makalu. The Everest Base Camp trek is one of the most iconic adventures in the world, offering trekkers the chance to walk in the footsteps of legendary climbers. The trek usually takes 12-14 days, starting from Lukla and passing through villages like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Gorakshep before reaching the base camp at 5,364 meters (17,598 ft). Key highlights include breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam, as well as cultural experiences in Sherpa villages and visits to ancient monasteries. Acclimatization is crucial due to the high altitude, and many trekkers incorporate side trips to peaks like Kala Patthar for the best views of Everest. ā°TIMESTAMPSā° 00:00 - Intro 00:56 - Pangboche - day 5 02:00 - Trek to Shomare 04:28 - Shomare 04:51 - Trek to Dingboche 07:56 - Dingboche 12:04 - Day 6 14:18 ā Trek to Chukhung 18:55 ā Chukhung
