Gummibärchen in der Hölle + der chemische Flammenwerfer - 1k special

Thank you for 1000 subscribers!! It's hard to believe I've hit 1k, I'm so happy! So here's another special video for you with two of my favorite experiments. In the first part, I'll show you the "Gummy Bear in Hell." Gummy bears contain a lot of sugar. Activating this sugar, however, is very difficult. Over a burner flame, a gummy bear simply melts and doesn't react, or only very slightly. What do we need to make the reaction more intense and allow the gummy bear to suddenly release its energy? More oxygen. The oxygen source here is potassium nitrate. Potassium nitrate begins to decompose at around 400°C, releasing oxygen in the process. When a gummy bear is thrown into the molten potassium nitrate, there is enough oxygen and activation energy present, and the gummy bear begins to react. We then witness a violent (exothermic) redox reaction. In this experiment, aside from the byproducts caused by the gummy bear and potassium nitrate, the main products are carbon dioxide and water. In the second part, I'll show you the "chemical flamethrower." Of course, flamethrowers always involve chemistry, but this one is suitable for the laboratory 😊 This experiment is very dangerous, and a lot can go wrong. Therefore, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS! It demonstrates how dangerous it can be to rapidly cool superheated substances in water. But the substance doesn't actually come into contact with the water, does it? There's a test tube in between, right? That's true at first, but the rapid cooling causes the test tube to crack, and the substance then comes into contact with the water. This causes the water to evaporate instantly, tearing the substance out of the test tube. It then disperses into the air (many tiny particles) and now has more oxygen available, with which it can react, producing a flame. ★ ... I hope you continue watching my videos (regardless of your subject area), learn something, and have fun.
