Remington: Nació Haciendo Rifles y Terminó en Cada Oficina del Planeta

Look at your cell phone keyboard right now: Q, W, E, R, T, Y. Why are the letters in that strange order? The answer will surprise you: that keyboard was designed more than 150 years ago for a machine that no longer exists, and on purpose to make you type slower. That machine is the typewriter, and the company that made it famous was called Remington. For almost a century, it reigned supreme in every office, every newspaper newsroom, and every writer's home. It typed, letter by letter, almost all the important documents of the 20th century and brought millions of women into the workforce for the first time. But what almost no one knows is that Remington wasn't born typing. It was born as a weapons factory. A rifle factory that, when the war ended and no one was buying weapons anymore, had to completely reinvent itself. From the war factory came the queen of peace in offices. In this documentary, we tell you the whole story: how one printer invented the machine and ended up with nothing while another took all the credit; why the QWERTY keyboard was designed on purpose to slow your fingers down; the brutal irony that Remington helped build the computer that later buried it; and why, even though the company died, its ghost lives on in your hands every time you type a message. Subscribe to keep unearthing these stories of empires that had it all and lost it all. Every week, a new collapse. Did you, your parents, or your grandparents use a typewriter? Did you learn to type on one? Tell me in the comments. I read them all. #Remington #Typewriter #QWERTY #CompanyStories #Nostalgia
