Between East and West – a ten-episode webinar series featuring the world-renowned Jerusalem Orchestra East & West, In collaboration with the Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies and the Department of Music at the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design at York University, Toronto, Canada, and with the support of the Azrieli Foundation. Viewers are invited to enter the fascinating world of the orchestra and its unique work, combining classical traditions of music from the Middle East with the conventions of Western classical music through enlightening explanations and immersive performances with guest artists. Episode 7: With a glimpse into the Egyptian scene, shaped by local traditions and internal influences, Arabic music has flourished in other countries. This episode invites viewers on a journey from Mesopotamia to the Levant, highlighting legendary artists and timeless classics.
