Between rising production costs, agricultural debt, and unstable weather, rural producers in Rio Grande do Sul find themselves in an increasingly desperate situation, but a project under consideration in the National Congress may offer a glimmer of hope. The proposal, which foresees the use of resources from the Pre-Salt Social Fund to finance producers affected by losses and debt, was approved by the Economic Affairs Committee and now goes to the Senate for a vote, potentially meaning relief for producers.
