Steel Numbering System
In this video I give a brief explanation of the AISI steel numbering system for carbon, alloy, and tool steels. Also, I discuss some of the steels we use in our production as well as offer for sale. CLARIFICATION: The carbon content is expressed in tenths or hundredths of a percent depending on wether there is a digit in the hundredths place. In the example of 4150 steel, the 50 stands for .5% percent, or 5 tenths of a percent or 1/2 of a percent. With 1095 steel, it has .95% carbon or 95 hundredths of a percent. https://www.jasonalonontoolmaker.com/...
