Campsite research

On our walk today we look to check out some suitable sites for an overnight camp which we plan to do in the next few weeks. It’s a sunny bright blue sky Autumnal kind of day so great for getting out in the bush. Our first port of call is at Palm grove at Ourimbah on the Great North walk. Ascending a respectable incline for almost the entire 1.5km we reach the first option. It’s a great campsite but it’s on a bit of a slope and a little small for a few tents. Also the incline to reach it, is quite steep and not ideal with a backpack laden with camping gear. After returning back to the car we set out for Somersby to check out another option. This one is also accessed by the Great North Walk. This second site is also around 1.5 km from the start but is a leisurely level, walk in the park, type amble. The site is level and large enough to accommodate us all.Making it our favourite contender so far. On the way back we experience a close encounter with a black snake, our first such experience for sometime. Bushwalking never fails to surprise us. Hope you enjoy watching. #CentralCoastBushwalking #hiking
