“Marcha Oficial da 37ª Semana Cultural das Velas 2026” – Velas – Ilha de São Jorge (05.07.2026)

Yesterday, Saturday the 4th of this month of July, the town of Velas on São Jorge Island (Azores) was filled with color, light, and joy, with many people coming to see and hear the Popular Marches. Info-Fajãs TV was present and made some reports. Today we publish a report of some moments from the presentation and parade of the Official March of the 37th Velas Cultural Week. The March "Velas with History and Future" addresses the theme of festivities through a futuristic lens. Futurism, as an artistic movement of the 20th century, was above all a gesture of rupture with the past and an exaltation of science and technology. The Official March of the 2026 Cultural Week aims, with this approach, to reinvent tradition and leave a message of hope, innovation, and modernization for the future of our municipality, valuing the resilience, creativity, and youthfulness of our people. Makeup and hair are a joint effort by the members of the march.
