Catch Me If You Can… The morning started with a beautiful, peaceful sunrise with our beloved eagles’ silhouettes darkened by the colorful sky… and then Luna… I guess you gotta go when you gotta go! As Luna and Sandy woke to enjoy the colorful sky and glassy lake, they headed out one after the other and then it began. Catch me if you can! Eagle going from tree to tree, Jackie and Shadow even joined in the fun. Shadow soon arrived with a fish and had a little snack when Sandy landed in the canopy and then it looked like she fell out of the sky, grabbed that fish and mantled it! Shadow skedaddled out of the way and up the Y branch to safety. Luna arrived a bit late to the party and missed out on breakfish…this time. More tree hopping and Shadow brough another fish to the nest… he waited and waited, no takers this time. He grabbed the fish and we spotted him on another snag trying to entice the kids. No takers again… He headed out back to the nest, waited and waited again and then he ate it! Jackie brought in fish #3, Luna was up on the Y branch while Sandy was down in the basement. Luna claimed the fish and when Sandy finally made her way up to the nest, Luna tried to swallow the fish whole! Well, that didn’t work, so he put his foot down and made it clear to Sandy, not this time! Fish #4 arrived and again Luna claimed it, had some bites, and along came Sandy, not this time Luna, she grabbed it and swallowed the rest of the fish! After fish #5 and #6, with full crops, Sandy and Luna seem quite content to hanging around the nest… Back in April, we did communicate with the local organization that puts on the fireworks. We let them know Sandy and Luna would likely still be in the area, the dangers to all wildlife, domestic animals, humans, and the environment… The show will go on. We do not know how Sandy and Luna will react. We do hope that Jackie and Shadow will stay nearby to care for them. At this time, we can only hope for peace, comfort, strength, courage, sending positive energy and prayers for our eagle family.
