Ep.20 Ohio State Reformatory Prison Tour, Mansfield, OH
A daytime tour of a famous haunted prison, used in several music videos and movie productions, most notably The Shawshank Redemption (1994). Constructed of brick and cement that looks like stone, it took quite a few years to complete due to funding setbacks. The original 150 inmates help construct drainage or sewer lines, and build a 25 foot wall around the property. About 150,000 prisoners in total were kept here during its years of operation. Once it was shut down in 1990, the wall and outbuildings were demolished to make way for a new prison to be built adjacent. Many of the windows are marked with a sign forbidding people from photographing the new prison from the old prison. I did not see a kitchen or cafeteria on the tour, so I guess it was an outbuilding that was demolished. #haunted #hauntedprison #mansfield #shawshankredemption #mobygratis
