Bygones, Anglia TV Episode on Early Trains in Film, 1960s/70s, F1134
Bygones was a short programme produced by Anglia TV, I think between 1967-89. In each episode the host (usually) Dick Joice (1921-99) would sit with a guest and discuss some aspect of the past, often as it related to rural East Anglia. A mystery object was sometimes featured, whose purpose/function was investigated, but not fully revealed until the end. I am not sure which season or particular episode this is, but I guess it dates to the late 1960s, possibly early 1970s. It is titled as "Bygones", but the presenters make reference to "Bioscope Bygones" during discussion, which might place this as an episode from that series of 1971. In any case, it features John Huntley (film historian 1921-2003) who has brought a number of films to view concerning steam trains in early films. He obviously had an incredible knowledge of both film and trains. The film appears to drop a frame every so often, but in fact there is nothing wrong with the film...it is on a very transparent film stock which the scanner finds hard to detect. I left it as it is, as it can take quite some time to correct for that. Credits Starring: Dick Joice and John Huntley Director: Len Caynes Research: Geoffrey Weaver Film Editor: Michael O'Halloran Designer: Peter Farman
