Doxology Improvisation by Gerre Hancock
This improvisation was recorded live at the 11am Festal Eucharist on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue following a performance of Karg-Elert's Lobet den Herrn hit Pauken und Zimbeln schoen (if you don't know this piece it is available elsewhere on YouTube) arranged for three organs to dedicate the Martha Dodge Taylor & Boody continuo organ. This is just a sample of the many amazing liturgical moments created through the intersection of Gerre's playing, liturgical action, and the inspiring setting of St. Thomas. If you listen carefully you can hear the thurifer, the congregation standing to be censed, and the footsteps of the usher corps bringing up the offering.
