Pragmatism and innovation collecting data in fragile situations during COVID 19

27 Oct 2020 In this webinar we share practical lessons learned on data collection while conducting research in humanitarian and otherwise fragile situations, particularly during COVID-19. Our speakers, working on research topics across a range of disciplines and settings, will introduce ongoing projects, reflect on the challenges of collecting data and discuss pragmatic and innovative options for overcoming these challenges (e.g. by using online tools or bespoke applications). Speakers will aim to generate insights into emerging best practices as research teams around the world adapt to ‘the new normal’. This is also an opportunity to reflect on ethical and policy implications for humanitarian and health operational agencies, research funders and policymakers emerging from their experiences. 0:00 Introduction 7:00 Presentation 11:40 Overview 16:50 The study 22:15 The project 29:55 The presenters 32:50 Questions 37:05 Household data collection 39:30 Dialin option 50:22 Permanent innovations 55:07 Tech fear 57:17 Final thoughts
