Odc. 3: „Ziemia i chmury. Z Szewachem Weissem rozmawia Joanna Szwedowska”
"Podcast "Education against Antisemitism. Learning from the Past to Understand Contemporary Challenges. A Multimedia Educational Kit," as part of the European program "Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values." This episode explores Polish-Jewish relations, the Holocaust, and the personal experiences of Shevach Weiss. The meeting centers on the book "Earth and Clouds. Joanna Szwedowska Interviews Shevach Weiss," which was published in the "Neighbors" series published by the Borderland Foundation. This series was initiated in 2000 by Jan Tomasz Gross's book of the same title, which sparked a significant public debate in Poland and abroad. The series presents literary testimonies from multi-ethnic regions, where neighborliness is often a difficult but always enriching matter, providing a testimony, above all, about ourselves. The meeting we are reporting on was led by Krzysztof Czyżewski at the White Synagogue in Sejny in 2002. Professor Szewach Weiss (born July 5, 1935, in Borysław) is an Israeli politician, academic, and a distinguished humanist who has worked throughout his life to promote interpersonal and intercultural dialogue. A "child of the Holocaust," he was Israel's former ambassador to Poland (2000-2003), a journalist, and author of numerous scholarly and literary books, as well as extensive journalism. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Jerusalem and the Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University, and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Jerusalem. Joanna Szwedowska is a radio journalist, documentary filmmaker, author, and member of the Polish PENclub. Since 1984, she has been associated with Polish Radio 2, and previously, from 1981, with Radio 3. From 2005 to 2007, she headed the Cultural Journalism Department at Polish Radio, and from 2013 to 2017, she headed the Literary Department of Program 2. She has authored numerous literary programs, radio reports, and documentaries. Podcast episode produced by the Pogranicze Foundation. Funded by the EU.
