Heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has significantly increased inflows into the Almatti Reservoir on the Krishna River. The reservoir has reached 86 TMC against its full storage capacity of 129.72 TMC, with inflows touching nearly 1.33 lakh cusecs. Authorities are expected to open the Almatti dam gates soon to release water into the downstream Narayanpur Reservoir. If inflows continue at the current pace, water could reach the Jurala Project in Telangana within a week, offering much-needed relief after prolonged low flows in the Krishna River. Meanwhile, inflows into the Pranahita River at Medigadda have declined as rainfall eased, leading to reduced flows in the Godavari basin.
