NYC to CT using Tesla FSD: Route Planning Was Suspect

We drove from NYC to Connecticut in our Tesla Model Y using Full Self-Driving (FSD Supervised) — and I had to intervene 3 times during the trip. Here’s what happened (and what I learned): Intervention #1 (Route planning): FSD/Nav wanted to take an alternate route, but we chose to stay on I-95 (we wanted easier access to stops/bathrooms on a family drive). Intervention #2 (Lane behavior): The car wouldn’t move over and stayed stuck in a slower lane even when it should’ve repositioned. Intervention #3: Watch for the final takeover — it’s a good example of when I decided “nope, not worth it.” If you’re using Tesla FSD on highways (especially in the Northeast), this should help you know what to expect with: Route choices (when FSD disagrees with what you want) Lane selection + lane changes When to intervene so the drive stays smooth and safe Safety note: FSD is supervised and not autonomous. Keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times. This video is my real-world experience, not driving advice. If you want more real Tesla ownership + FSD testing videos, subscribe.
