Ulsan Mayor-elect Kim Sang-wook has repeatedly stated that he will pursue the resolution of city bus issues as the top priority of his administration. His plan is to reduce citizen inconvenience by restoring abolished routes and adjusting unreasonable ones. Reporter Park Jung-gwan reports. [Report] Ulsan Mayor-elect Kim Sang-wook, the Ulsan City government, and city bus labor and management met again after a week. At the meeting, Mayor-elect Kim stated that inconvenient bus routes must be resolved immediately and declared that he would make the city bus issue the top priority of his administration. This is because citizens are complaining the most about the inconvenience."] Dialogues with citizens held in the five districts and counties last weekend also emphasized that he would place the normalization of city buses—including route adjustments and improvements to the transfer system—as the top priority for budget and administration. He added that the restoration of routes that disappeared due to the city bus reorganization scheduled for the end of 2024 must be pursued as a priority. The routes in question are three lines—Routes 123, 126, and 307—which have been the subject of ceaseless complaints regarding inconvenience for citizens. However, Ulsan City maintains that reviving the abolished routes as they are could reduce service to other areas, and therefore, it is necessary to consider other measures, such as increasing the number of buses. Regarding the public management system for city buses, which was emphasized during the election campaign, the city has decided to postpone it for the time being, as implementing such a system takes time and requires persuading the Ulsan City Council due to budget issues.
