🇬🇧 🇬🇧 Diana - Queen of our hearts (tribute to Lady Di)

🇬🇧 This song was written only a few days after the death of the "Queen of our Hearts", who lost her life on August 31st, 1997, together with her companion, Dodi Al-Fayed, after being pursued by several paparazzi, in the Alma Tunnel in Paris. In loving memory of Lady Diana Frances Spencer Born on July 1st, 1961, in Sandringham, England and Imad El-Din ibn Mohammed ibn Abdel Moneim Al-Fayed ("Dodi") Born on April 15th, 1955, in Alexandria, Egypt May they rest in peace... 🇬🇧 Lyrics: Diana - Queen of our hearts [Vers 1] At sixteen you first saw the man who one day would become your own. Your heart surrendered there and then when he asked you to come along... Then there in Windsor came these words: "Dear Diana“ ---- „will you be my wife?" You placed your trembling hand in his, and dreamed of sharing all his life... When down the aisle he led your way, that summer day in eighty-one, it seemed that every dream came true – your destiny had just begun... [Chorus 1] Diana ... Queen of our Hearts, You fairest rose beneath the sky. Though torn-apart at heart, Your light will never die... [Vers 2] Before too long you held a son, young William came into your arms. To you he was love's precious gift, a promise safe from every harm... But there was someone in his heart who left the deepest wound in you. You knew she'd always be a part of every dream he still held true... She came before and still remained, the one he'd never leave behind. And winter settled on the court, yet you kept peace within your mind. [Chorus 2] Diana ... Sister of my lifetime, with you, a part of me has gone. Diana ... You did not live in vain! And my love ----- goes with you on... [Vers 3] When little Harry came at last, with tiny strands of fiery red, the whispers rose throughout the land, and stained the name you'd always kept. The love Prince Charles had sworn to you by God's own Word, in sacred trust, lay frozen in the silent woods, ---- forgotten there... and turned to dust. Above it all there hung the shadow of every waiting camera's eye. They hunted you like hunted rats beneath the unforgiving sky. [Chorus 1] Diana ... Queen of our Hearts, You fairest rose beneath the sky. Though torn-apart at heart, Your light will never die... [Vers 4] The love once given to your man began once more to bloom and grow, and slowly you began to learn what life was waiting still to show... You gave them hope, you gave your heart to those whom life had wounded so. You brought them love to ease their pain – to them you were the morning glow. You loved your sons with all your heart, as every child beneath the sky. For love repaid all earthly debts – and love alone could satisfy. [Chorus 2] Diana ... Sister of my lifetime, with you, a part of me has gone. Diana ... You did not live in vain! and my love ----- goes with you on... [Vers 5] You spread your wings at last and flew, and broke the gilded cage apart. You cast the royal reins aside, and chose to follow your own heart... Within a life of storm and rain, Dodi Al-Fayed, changed your way. For you he'd gladly give his life – Yet none foresaw that fateful day... You never would have dreamed back then that this rich man of worldly fame in Saint-Tropez, one quiet night, could fill your heart with love again... [Chorus 1] Diana ... Queen of our Hearts, You fairest rose beneath the sky. Though torn-apart at heart, Your light will never die... [Vers 6] And once again the cameras came, and followed you through all the land. Yet no one wished to hold them back – Your life lay in their restless hands. Within the Alma Tunnel's shade, past midnight on a Paris street, by Pillar Thirteen, so they said, Fate softly sighed: ---- "The end's complete..." Mmmmmmmmmm … Mmmmmmmmmm … [transition] Farewell now ---- Queen of all our Hearts, my humble greeting comes to thee. Gone are all your soul's afflictions – and every tear you've wept in grief... [Chorus 1] Diana ... Queen of our Hearts, You fairest rose beneath the sky. Though torn-apart at heart, Your light will never die... [Chorus 2] Diana ... Sister of my lifetime, with you, a part of me has gone. Diana ... You did not live in vain! And my love ----- goes with you on... [Ending] Diana... © Hubertus M.
