An inaccurate measurement will lead to a misdiagnosis! We will first examine functional superheat, which is defined as the difference between the temperature at the evaporator outlet and the refrigerant saturation temperature at low pressure. Then we will move on to total superheat, information useful for protecting the compressor. Next, we will see that subcooling corresponds to the difference between the high-pressure liquid saturation temperature and the condenser outlet temperature. This video details the importance of these measurements for the refrigeration system, addressing the evaporation temperature and the temperature at the expansion valve bulb. We will also see the importance of evacuating pressure gauges for accurate measurements in HVAC systems.
