CJI Chandrachud noted in oral observations and in the order of the Honourable top court that, "we are unable to comprehend how the state was not able to handle the issue of vandalism at the hospital". The Supreme Court also spoke against Mamata Banerjee's administration cracking down on peaceful protesters. Amid reports of Notices being sent to protesters, outspoken doctors and justice seekers from civil society, the Supreme Court said, "Let not the power of the state of West Bengal be unleashed on peaceful protesters"- a statement the top court repeated 5 times.
