SURYAMALANG.COM - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Tambak Wedi Culinary Tourism Center (SWK) on Monday evening (July 6, 2026). The inspection was conducted after he received a report of alleged illegal levies (pungli) amounting to Rp 3 million for the purchase of a stall through his personal hotline. At the location, Eri was involved in an argument with an individual claiming to be from an association. The individual denied any levies were collected from the vendors. "The individual claiming to be from the association who allegedly collected money denied it," Eri wrote in a video uploaded to his TikTok on Wednesday (July 8, 2026). Nevertheless, Eri urged vendors who feel they have been victims to immediately report the alleged illegal levies to the police so that the alleged illegal levies can be processed according to the law. He also asked all parties to provide truthful information so that the matter can be thoroughly investigated. In addition to following up on the alleged extortion, Eri summoned the Tambak Wedi Village Head to demand an explanation regarding the management of the SWK in his area. Considering his lack of understanding of the situation on the ground, Eri immediately removed the village head from his position. "It turns out he didn't know much.
