Le mura di Dante riaffiorate in piazza Beccaria attendono una decisione dalla Soprintendenza.

📍 Piazza Beccaria – Florence December 15th I made this new video in Piazza Beccaria on the occasion of the official inspection by the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, the Municipal Administration and other entities involved in the tramway works and the management of recent archaeological finds. During the excavations, as communicated by the Superintendency, "interesting portions of the external fortification system of the Arnolfo walls from the late 13th century" emerged, a find of great historical value that takes us back to medieval Florence, that of the city of Dante. Following these important discoveries, work on the underground services is currently blocked in the area adjacent to the finds, on the Via Gioberti side. The interventions will need to be redesigned to bypass and preserve the uncovered archaeological structures, in compliance with conservation restrictions. This video was created by Jacopo Bianchi, a certified pilot and videographer, with the aim of directly and visually documenting what is happening beneath our feet, in a strategic point of the city. A fascinating and far from secondary question now remains: 👉 Is a permanent, transparent floor that allows visitors to admire the "Dante" walls directly in Piazza Beccaria conceivable, do you also think? Comment ✍🏻 A solution that could transform a complex construction site into a unique opportunity for historical and cultural valorization, rather than covering everything up... Enjoy!
