Questioning Your Belief in Death

A woman wants to know more about death and what happens when we die. She also wants to know how she can convey the non-dual understanding – that our essential self is never born and never dies – to her mother who is terminally ill. Rupert says: ‘Your deepest truth is that the fact of being aware is ever-present and changeless. If that is true for you, it must also be true for your mother. Yes, her mind, her body – all of that is going to disappear. But who she is is not going anywhere. ‘The greatest gift you can give her is to stand knowingly as this ever-present, unchanging being when you’re with her. You’ll be blessing her as she passes away. Just your presence in the room will convey this understanding subliminally.
