What are the most important tasks for a gardener in July? Is it worth sowing or planting anything in the vegetable garden, or is it the end of the season? Should plants be fertilized in the summer? The truth is that July is still a very important month for vegetable gardening, and besides the abundant harvest and the joy of having your own food from the garden, a good gardener now takes care of ensuring continuous crops until autumn or even next spring, nurturing growing plants and, more importantly, the soil :-) Today's vlog covers all of this... but not only that :-) We'll also cover sweet peas, annual flowers, roses, and how to make fantastic products for your home medicine cabinet with marigold: body oil and skin healing lotion - the recipe is below. Enjoy :-) www.katarzynabellingham.pl Music by www.bensound.com Marigold Body Oil and Skin Healing Lotion: Calendula officinalis is perhaps one of the most well-known inhabitants of our gardens. It comes in many varieties, but most are characterized by the warm and rich color of its flowers. This annual plant easily self-sows every year and poses virtually no maintenance problems, as marigolds require little more than weeding. However, it's worth taking advantage of its wonderful properties – did you know that it's one of the most versatile herbs? According to herbal expert Lesley Bremness, "...The ancient Egyptians considered marigold a rejuvenating herb, the Hindus used it to decorate temple altars, and the Persians and Greeks decorated dishes with its golden petals." In Europe, it has been used for centuries as a flavoring for soups and sauces, as well as a coloring agent for butter and cheese.* However, what's important for us is that calendula has healing and soothing properties for both adults and children. We recommend two valuable recipes: A WOUND DISINFECTANT AND HEALING LIQUID is very easy to make. Pour pure vodka over freshly picked calendula flowers, tightly seal the bottle, and store it in a cool, dark place for 2-3 weeks. After this time, strain the liquid and, to use, pour a few drops onto a cotton ball, which can be used to clean cuts, wounds, and chapped skin. CALENDOLA BODY OIL for children and adults wonderfully moisturizes the skin of even the youngest little ones. It's great for red bottoms and scuffed knees. To obtain this miraculous oil, simply steep freshly picked marigold flowers in any unscented oil, such as grapeseed or almond oil, and let it sit in a sunny spot for 2-3 weeks. Then strain and use as needed. Marigold flowers can also be used to make a healing hand cream, and its petals can be added to a soothing bath or homemade baked goods.
