Bilal ibn Rabah: The Prophet's Muezzin Steadfastness Under Rock and Thorns: He began his life as a downtrodden slave in Mecca, enduring the most severe torture on the scorching desert sands to renounce his faith. Yet, he wrote the most magnificent epic of patience, smiling and repeating his immortal words that shook the strongholds of the Quraysh: "One... One." The First Muezzin of Islam: After Abu Bakr al-Siddiq freed him, Bilal became a constant companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who honored him by choosing him to be the first muezzin in Islam. His melodious voice gathered Muslims for prayer, and on the day of the conquest of Mecca, he ascended the roof of the Kaaba to proclaim the call to prayer in a momentous and historic event. Loyalty Until His Last Breath: After the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Bilal could not bear to remain in Medina due to his profound grief and separation from the Messenger of God, so he set out to fight in the cause of God in Syria. When death approached him, his wife cried, saying, "Oh, my sorrow!" So he lifted the blanket from him while he was dying and said joyfully, "Tomorrow we will meet our loved ones... Muhammad and his party" (or Muhammad and his companions).
