Music from Home: Percussion and Paper Plate Maracas

Welcome to the fifth video in our Music from Home: Learning with the Canton Symphony Orchestra series! Learn all about the percussion family and make your very own paper plate maraca! Find more in depth lessons at - https://www.cantonsymphony.org/wp-con... Paper Plate Maracas Materials: • Two paper (or plastic) plates • String/tape • Beans or rice Steps: 1. Line up the plates so the place where you put food is facing inward. 2. Poke holes in both plates about three inches apart using a sharp object. Make sure the holes line up on the plates. 3. Using string, tie the plates together leaving a part of the plates still unattached. 4. Fill the space between the plates with beans or rice, leaving room for them to shake around. 5. Finish tying the plates together. Use tape or glue to make sure it is completely sealed and no beans/rice can get out. 6. Decorate the maraca as you like!
