How to Use HR as an Authoritative Source in Okta, Entra ID, and SailPoint | SuccessDay HRaaS Demo

In this video, I am introducing **SuccessDay**, a minimalist HRaaS application built for IAM engineers, identity learners, students, career switchers, and builders who want to practice real-world identity integrations without depending on expensive HR systems, limited demo tenants, or paid SaaS subscriptions. If you have ever tried to learn Identity and Access Management, Identity Governance and Administration, or CIAM hands-on, you already know the problem. Most real IAM workflows start with an HR system. In enterprise environments, HR is usually the authoritative source for employee identity data. When a new employee joins, changes department, moves to a new role, or leaves the company, the HR system becomes the starting point for identity lifecycle management. But for learners, this creates a major problem. How do you practice HR-driven identity workflows if you do not have access to Workday, SuccessFactors, BambooHR, UKG, or another enterprise HR system? How do you test Joiner, Mover, and Leaver workflows in Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or SailPoint without a proper HR source? How do you demonstrate an IAM project where HR acts as the source of truth if every HRaaS platform requires a paid subscription, enterprise approval, or a limited trial? That is the problem I am trying to solve with **SuccessDay**. SuccessDay is a simple HRaaS-style application designed specifically for IAM learning and integration labs. It is not trying to replace real enterprise HR platforms. Instead, it gives identity engineers a clean and realistic HR source that can be used to understand and demonstrate how modern IAM systems work when HR is the authoritative source. The idea is simple: create users in SuccessDay, manage employee attributes, expose identity data through APIs, and use that data to integrate with platforms like Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and SailPoint. This project is built around the type of workflows IAM engineers actually deal with in the real world: HR as an authoritative source Joiner, Mover, and Leaver lifecycle workflows Identity onboarding Identity updates Access provisioning Access removal SCIM-style user and group provisioning SSO testing Identity governance Access profiles Role-based access Department-based access Manager-based workflows Identity security automation It shows that you understand how identity begins, how it flows, how it gets governed, and how it is secured.
