History Meets Hollywood: The Charles Carroll House | National Treasure Hunt

“The secret lies with Charlotte.” It’s the treasure hunt clue that launched Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) and millions of fans on a fictional quest to understand American history through the lens of an action-adventure film called National Treasure (2004). The movie's creative team imagined that Charles Carroll of Carrollton, one of four Maryland signers of the Declaration of Independence, was the keeper of that critical clue. But how does National Treasure justify Carroll's possession of a secret used to safeguard a treasure purportedly concealed by Freemasons? Two decades after the movie's premiere and at the height of public demand for National Treasure 3, franchise expert Aubrey Paris (National Treasure Hunt, Riley Poole's Book of Secrets) visits Carroll’s former home to unravel how history meets Hollywood in Annapolis, Maryland. Her exploration of Carroll’s role in the National Treasure story illuminates the impact of both religion and politics in his life, spotlights his fellow founding fathers, and identifies several Freemasons with prominent parts to play in America's early years. ===== History Meets Hollywood: The Charles Carroll House Created and Written by Aubrey Paris Directed and Edited by Christopher Leps Produced by Aubrey Paris Color by Anthony Leps Historian and Archivist: Robert Worden St. Mary's Parish Communications Director: Christine Bervid Maryland Production Associate: Teresa Ertel Co-produced by Christopher Leps Special thanks to: St. Mary's Parish Charles Carroll House The City of Annapolis Red Front Door Studios Filmed on location in Annapolis, Maryland National Treasure Hunt Productions ===== Music "Lost Kingdom" and "On a Quest" by Jamie Wright - Provided by Artlist | www.artlist.io "Corsair Treasure Hunt" by Francesco Biondi @ Pinegroove (IPI 00542050494) - Provided by B.M.I.
