Will crossing the Apennine Mountains stop us on the Via Francigena week 2
We continue our family Via Francigena trek in Italy from Fidenza to Sarzanna. Along the way we cross the Apennine Mountains, which run 1200km north to south down the spine of Italy. We reach an altitude of about 1100 metres but there are so many ascents and decents that the total elevation gain and loss far exceeds that. Following a quick trip to emergency after which I was OK thankfully, we walk on. Jo's blisters become even more spectacular and she continues to show how tough she really is. Amy drops her favourite blogging camera but learns to take it in her stride with a knowledge that the " Camino will provide." The trails up and over the mountains were at times very challenging but the views were so worth the effort. Music credit to Savfk for "The Travelling Symphony," and " Strange The Dreamer."
