A child in every classroom: tackling PTSD in children and adolescents
Welcome to UEA's Inaugural Lectures autumn series 2021. Join us online to hear about cutting-edge research from UEA’s newest professors, covering topics affecting all areas of living today. A child in every classroom: tackling PTSD in children and adolescents Prof Richard Meiser-Stedman - Norwich Medical School Recent epidemiological surveys suggest that a significant minority of youth in the UK – potentially as many as 7% – will develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at some point in their childhood or adolescence. How do we tackle this public health burden? In this talk, Prof Richard Meiser-Stedman (Norwich Medical School) will summarise how research – particularly from a cognitive psychological perspective – has informed our understanding of this devastating condition over the last 20 years. There are serious challenges ahead, but there are more reasons to be hopeful than are currently recognised. The next lecture in the series is on Tuesday 16 November. Listen to Prof William's lecture titled 'Tastes and encounters: changing visions of women in post-war British realist cinema'. For more information visit: https://bit.ly/inauguralwilliams
