Prayer - Rejoice and Be Gentle | Daryl Black
Message Notes: Ephesians 6:18 ESV Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Philippians 4:4-5 ESV 4Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand. 1. Rejoice in the Lord Always Joy is the anthem of the unshaken soul Psalm 16:11 ESV You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Mark 4:19 ESV But the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. Psalm 51:12 ESV Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV 5Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 2. Let Your Gentleness Be Evident to All "Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength." — Saint Francis de Sales Titus 3:2 ESV To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. Proverbs 15:1 ESV A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. 3. The Lord is Near Hebrews 13:5-6 ESV For He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me? Matthew 28:20 ESV And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Prayer: Father God, we come before You today, not with hearts weighed down, but lifted up in joy. Joy, because You are faithful, You are with us, and You are greater than any circumstance we face. Your Word says, ‘Rejoice in the Lord always,’ and today, we hold tight to that command. We choose joy—not because life is simple or storms are silent, but because You are our Rock, steady and unshaken. We choose joy because it’s our declaration of trust. It’s our battle cry. It’s our way of saying to every trial and every hardship, ‘You will not shake me.’ We’re not held together by our own strength but by the joy of the Lord, and that joy—His joy—is our strength. So today, we choose joy, because we serve a God who’s still on the throne, who’s still in control, and who’s closer than our next breath. We pray for our leaders, Lord. Grant them wisdom and guidance to make decisions that align with Your truth. Surround them with godly counsel and strengthen them for the task. Help us as a nation to choose unity over division, love over fear, and faith over doubt. Remind us that no matter who leads on earth, You are the true King. So, we declare together: Our God is greater than every circumstance. Our peace is found in Your presence, not in politics. Our hope is anchored in Heaven, not in headlines. We place our nation, our leaders, and our hearts in Your hands, trusting in Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
