The Philips N4308 R2R Tape Recorder
I thought It's about time to dig out the old Philips N4308 and give it the electrical overhaul it's been needing ever since I got it. I'm not sure how old this is but I would guess late 60's or early 70's. Anyway, the speaker didn't work and although it records and plays, the sound is a little muffled. So I went ahead and saw to those, even going so far as doing a "CoolDudeClem" modification, but nothing that anyone back in the day wouldn't have done.. Fortunately everything mechanical had already been serviced so I didn't have any gooey belts to contend with, witch is a common problem on old Philips equipment. There was some residue from what I can only assume was an old belt that had melted, and of course that stuff does not wash off easily if you get any of it on you, as I found out. Back in the late 60's/early 70's they did seem to make some nice looking equipment. Oh, I forgot to add the CoolDudeClem's Electronic Workshop intro, welp, too late to go back and change it now!
