On July 8, the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing with Christophe Lecourtier, Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD). Appointed a few weeks prior to head the AFD, Christophe Lecourtier presented the senators with the initial guidelines for his mandate. Determined to make the public agency's operations more transparent in a particularly constrained budgetary context, the Director General nevertheless lamented the sharp decline in AFD funding.
