The grinding shop grew to become the largest and most renowned specialist business in the Fulda district. The daughter, Christa, joined the business. In 1989, a new apprentice was sought. Mr. Schumann was by then 92 years old. He and his daughter chose the intern, Jens. After his successful journeyman's examination, it was a pleasure to take him on. Since J. Schumann passed away during his apprenticeship, Jens Kubesch went straight on to master craftsman school after completing his training and graduated in 1994 with a grade of 2 (on a scale where 1 is the highest). In 1995, at just 21 years old, Jens bought the workshop from Mrs. Schumann, which had previously moved to Rangstraße 71. He also acquired the house from the owner.
