Tom discusses the origin of the term landscape architecture, international influences on UK landscape architecture, famous examples (including Hatshepsut's Temple, Delphi, Villa Lante, Courances, Stourhead, Studley Royal, Edinburgh New Town, Olmsted's design for Central Park, NY, Mies' Barcelona Pavilion and Charles Jencks' landform design for the Scottish Museum of Modern Art. Theorists include Ian McHarg, Bernard Tschumi, Rem Koolhaas, Charles Waldheim, James Corner, Charles Jencks and Kongjian Yu. Design theories include Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, Modernism, Postmodernism, Sustainability and Post-Postmodernism.
