Murder on Main Street: The McNutt and Winner Story

Just after 3:30am on Thursday, the 25 of December 1873, the people of Wichita, Kansas were woken by the noises of an excited gathering crowd on Main Street. Number 73 had caught fire, and the flames were quickly spreading. To the rear of the building a man was found on the bottom step of the exit, dressed in his night clothes, semi-conscious and bleeding. He had lacerations on his left arm and forehead and grazes on the back of his neck. He said he had no idea of how the fire started or how he got his injuries... This is the story of Joseph McNutt and Arthur Winner - a shocking account from the American frontier.
