How To Play Fallen Angel By Poison - Guitar Lesson - CC Deville - Open Up And Say Ahhh!

In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Fallen Angel by Poison. CC Deville is one of the most iconic guitarists from the 80's "hair metal" scene and to this day is out touring and playing with Poison. CC Deville came up with some of the most memorable guitar riffs and solos from that era and was a big influence on me as a young guitarist trying to learn the ropes and shred with the best of them back in the late 80's! Fallen Angel was released in 1988 as the second single from the band's second studio album Open Up and Say... Ahh!. The B-side of the seven-inch was "Bad to Be Good". "Fallen Angel" reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 32 on the Mainstream Rock chart and has since gone gold in the US. This made it the only single from the album not to reach the top ten. It also charted at number 21 on the Australian charts and number 59 on the UK Singles chart. The song is about a young girl who grew up in a small town in Ohio and goes to Los Angeles to try to make it as an actress. While there, she abandons her old life. This theme is a reference to the history of the band Poison itself: Bret Michaels, Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett all left their native Pennsylvania for Los Angeles in their quest for fame. Musically, Fallen Angel is a fun song to play, and has a very memorable chorus and guitar riff as well as a cool solo. This song is a crowd pleaser at gigs and also serves as a good song to learn when working on pentatonic and major scale runs. It showcases how e minor and G major interchange as relative keys and can be a good gateway for guitarists trying to explore this tonal relationship and inject these skills into their own playing regardless of style.
