National Route 252, Rokujurigoe Pass, connects Uonuma City in Niigata Prefecture and Tadami Town in Okuaizu, Fukushima Prefecture. In 2022, the "Aiyoshi Bridge" was washed away by an avalanche, and in 2025, the "Deai Bridge" was also washed away. Currently, the route is closed for over six months due to the installation of temporary bridges, winter closures, and repair work. This national route reopened on the 22nd of this month, albeit with temporary bridges. On this day (the 23rd, the day after the reopening), the weather was fine, and many people seemed to be enjoying the spectacular views of Rokujurigoe Pass and Tagokura Dam! The waterfall in the video is "Aiyoshi Falls," filmed on the old road where the Aiyoshi Bridge was washed away. The Rokujurigoe Pass is only passable for about six months of the year until its winter closure, but I'm once again struck by the immense contribution it makes to Oku-Aizu.
