Phonemic vs Phonetic Transcription

Teachers and learners of English pronunciation encounter two types of transcription in their studies: phonemic and phonetic. Dictionaries use phonemic transcriptions, but these leave out important details that are not included in phonemic alphabets. In this lesson I explore the difference between the two and look at their relative advantages and drawbacks for learners.
