Outdoor Work Day Turned Rainy in Remote Alaskan Wilderness
Thank you to those who have been following along! This episode picks right where the last one left off; mid-day on 7 September, 2023. I finish taking down a beetle kill spruce tree, but leave a high stump that has a property marker on it. After that, I process the tree and use some of the logs to improve my canoe stand near the water's edge. Then we have a fireside chat where I talk more about the cabin and property before it starts raining. Then I spend some time inside the cabin out of the rain listening to an audio book and exploring some of the cassette tapes left by the previous owner. Then we polish off the episode with a fresh pike cooked over the fire with some locally harvested rose hips. Audio Book: Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline. Narrated by Wil Wheaton. Cassette Tape: Lake Wobegon, written and narrated by Garrison Keillor. 0:00 Introduction 0:18 Tree Felling 3:19 Timber! 4:02 Timber Processing 4:55 Canoe Stand 11:20 Fireside Talk 15:50 Rained Out 21:47 Cooking Pike over the Fire 27:51 Thank you for Watching!
