Escape From Ever After | Review | Shockingly Good Indie RPG That Deserves More Attention

Escape From Ever after is a hilarious RPG heavily influenced by the Paper Mario series. You play as Flynt Buckler, storybook hero as he explores fairy tales and legally distinct novellas on a quest to bring down the evil Ever After Inc It’s an amazing achievement from an impossibly small team. The story is crammed with jokes that often give way to some moments of genuine heart. The combat system is as engaging as it is fun, with plenty of room for experimentation and ways to build the colourful characters to your playstyle. The bright, expressive visuals and whimsical music perfectly compliment each other and create a world I couldn't wait to explore again each time I switched it off for the night. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic it’s one of the best games I’ve played in a while and I’m recommending it to everyone I talk to, so make sure you check it out Hilarious and heartfelt story and characters Engaging and deceptively deep combat Bright and expressive visuals feels like you’re in a story book - Lack of depth perception makes platforming tricky Timing based block system can feel rigged at times 00:00 - Intro 01:11 - Story and Writing 02:50 - Exploration and Level Design 05:33 - Combat 09:02 - Trinkets 10:32 - Closing Statements #indiegame #rpg #escapefromeverafter
